Paris, France, the iconic City of Light, the Capital of France, home to 2.1 million Parisien souls. Ancient in origin, Paris was first inhabited by Gallic tribes in antiquity, dating back to the 3rd century BC. The modern city of Paris is divided into 20 municipal districts called arrondissements.
With an area of just over 40 square miles, Paris is situated on the Seine River in the Ile-de-France region of France.
Walking along the Champs Elysees, tourists take in the sights, snap photos of the Arc de Triomphe. Luxury shoppers delight at the Galeries Lafayette. In Montmartre, an outdoor artist market draws a crowd; an organ grinder belts out musical notes. The Basilica of Sacré-Coeur sits atop Montmartre, presiding over the city. At the top of The Cathedral of Notre Dame, a gang of stone gargoyles watch over the city, as they’ve done for centuries. From high atop the Eiffel Tower, the view is breathtaking, European horizons all around.
The photographs in this book were taken in Paris, France in January of 2007.
