This is not just a book—it’s a deeply personal photography collection and travel journal documenting my 2025 journey through the former princely state of Jhalavad in Gujarat, India. The book features over 200 pages of full-color photographs, reflections, and stories that bring to life the people, heritage, architecture, and landscapes of this lesser-known yet culturally rich region.
📍 What’s Inside the Book?
The Knights of Jhalavad is a visual and narrative exploration of:
- Dhrangadhra, the historic capital of the Jhala Rajput clan, and home to the majestic Ajit Nivas Palace
- The Little Rann of Kutch, a surreal salt desert and sanctuary for India’s wild asses
- Holi Festival in Salangpur, featuring vibrant portraits of celebration and devotion at the Hanuman Temple
- Local heroes like snake charmer Sauji Nath and cattle herder Gogabhai Bharvad, whose lives are deeply woven into the land
- The medieval village of Jinjuwada, where heritage preservation efforts are underway to protect ancient sandstone arches
- My ongoing relationship with 47th Jhallesvar Dr. H.H. Maharaja Sriraj Jayasinhji of Halvad- Dhrangadhra, cultural guardian and scholar, who knighted me in 2024 as a member of the Royal Order of Jhalavad for my cultural contributions
